Heartwarming tales about diversity and love

Cactus Pete (and his smelly feet)

Cactus Pete’s family came from

A hot country with desert heat

Where the sun shines constantly

And it rains only a tiny little bit.

But the Cactus Petes are fine

With just a little water they grow

They collect moisture with their spikes

The smartest plants you will ever know.

Now, Cactus Pete lives in a small pot

Faraway in a cold country

But he is not homesick because

He is loved by his human family.

But his human family loves him too much!

They kept on watering Cactus Pete

No, no, no, please stop, cried Cactus Pete

The water is getting to my feet!

Oh Cactus Pete, they said

Why do you have smelly feet.

*&%$*!!!, swore Cactus Pete.

Your watering is

Rotting my feet!

Cactus Pete was inspired by Lisa Skraba, a talented poet and a friend cheese plants.

(Note: If you have over-watered your cactus, leave the roots out to dry. And make sure you don’t do it again! Using the right potting mix helps too).
