When you come across us in the streets

Please say hello and give us a little wave.

If you see any of our kin in trouble

Please help, we’re trying very hard to be brave.

Life is so difficult for us these days

We have lost our homes and family members too.

We try to survive day by day in the streets

Sad and scared, we depend on kindness from you.

Food is hard to find now that the fields are gone

We have nowhere to go, little to eat, we lost everything.

Where there was once juicy worms and yummy seeds

There are now city centres, busy roads, unwelcoming buildings.

Please don’t scare or hurt us

Please just let us live.

Humans have taken much from us

Yet we still have love to give.

Pigeons, hedgehogs and wildlife are not vermin. They are part of Nature and a healthy ecosystem. Development has cost them their natural habitat. Please be kind to them, as we are living in a place that was once their home. Do photocopy and share this widely.
