Cheese Plant Books

Heartwarming tales about diversity and love

Sometimes, Roald gets so MAD at people (especially his brother), and Mum doesn’t seem to understand his feelings either, which makes him MADDER!

Read Roald’s story about finding a little cheese plant and learning a very powerful way of dealing with strong emotions.

There are seven simple and fun activities to do after you have read the story:

* Recognise that it is OK to feel angry.

* Help children understand the transformation of grief to anger, and back to calm and love.

* Teach children how to diffuse their cauldron of fiery emotions with a simple breathing exercise and self-affirmation.

* Teach neurotypical children empathy for their friends who are struggling with big emotions.

I am neurodivergent and I speak publicly about my autism. Being autistic certainly does have its challenges, but with mindfulness practice and a few simple but powerful tools, these big emotions can be managed successfully. I have worked with teachers and parents all over the world via the Sun Yoga Teacher Training Programme to bring this methodology to life. To date, the programme has trained over 500 people. I also speak globally at conferences on autism.

This book is designed by the autistic in me. The pages are clear and crisp, with a single illustration. This is because I find it challenging to navigate around clutter due to sensory overload. Fun With Sun Yoga cards, which I designed with Teddi Barenholtz based on these principles, won the Moms Choice Gold Award.

This book is also a must for neurotypical children to teach them empathy for their siblings and friends who are neurodivergent. It empowers neurotypical children to be kinder and more inclusive, building a better future for those who are struggling to live in a neurotypical world. Also, let’s face it, almost all children get very angry and have meltdowns sometimes!!!
